Brand, Jeff

Meet the Candidate

Running For:
MN House of Representatives
District:
18A
Political Affiliation:
Democratic Farmer-Labor
Comments from MFC:
~Rep Brand voted for HF2497 in 2023, the Education omnibus which mandated that all higher education institutions which participate in the state post secondary enrollment option (PSEO) program cannot require a statement of faith from student applicants. This policy was a change from the status quo when the PSEO program had been instituted, and it targeted religious higher education institutions. The following year, Rep. Brand voted favorably on the amendment to the so-called "Equal Rights Amendment" (ERA) which would have ensured constitutional protections for religion within the text of the ERA. This is why the inferences to Questions 8 and 9 seem to conflict.
